Senior Support Worker / Deputy (Shift-Based)

Location: Manchester (M19)
Hourly Rate:

  • Senior: £14 p/h (approx. £35,178 per year)
  • Deputy: £15–£16 p/h (approx. £37,258 – £39,338 per year)
    Sleep-ins: £50 per sleep
    Shift Pattern: 2 on / 4 off
    Service Type: Solo Children's Home (15-year-old) + occasional support to other homes

We are supporting a well-established children's residential provider in Manchester who is seeking an experienced Senior Support Worker or Deputy to join their solo placement home in the M19 area.

This is an excellent opportunity to step into a senior role within a nurturing, stable organisation with strong leadership and a supportive Home Manager.

About the Role

Working within a solo children's home supporting a 15-year-old, you will provide consistent, trauma-informed support and strong leadership on shift. You will also assist at their other homes occasionally when needed.

This is a shift-based role (not Monday–Friday) and is ideal for:

  • An experienced Senior Support Worker
  • A Deputy Manager who prefers shift-based working

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts with confidence, ensuring a safe, structured, and nurturing environment
  • Deliver high-quality, child-centred, trauma-informed care
  • Support with documentation, care planning, and safeguarding
  • Mentor and guide junior staff to maintain best practice
  • Oversee behavioural support, incident reporting, and compliance
  • Work closely with the Home Manager, professionals, and external agencies
  • Provide support to nearby homes when required
  • Participate fully in the 2 on / 4 off rota and sleep-ins

Requirements

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Have worked in a children's residential home within the last 2 years
  • Be an experienced Senior Support Worker or Deputy
  • Be working towards or already hold a Children's Residential qualification (Level 3+)
  • Be knowledgeable in Ofsted requirements and regulatory compliance
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle
  • Be able to work a 2 on / 4 off shift rotation
  • Female preferred, though male applicants will be considered
